Day At The Park
Weather permitting, we will have a day at Stone Mountain Park. There are picnic areas, hiking trails, a playground, and lots of activities for children. There is a bike rental place in Stone Mountain Village, and kayak or paddle board rentals in the park.
If the forecast is rain, there are a ton of activities in the Atlanta area.
We will be set up at the Studdard Picnic Area in the Park Central location beginning at 9:00 AM. Here’s a map to the location. Or enter”Studdard Picnic Area, Studdard St, Stone Mountain, GA 30087″ into your preferred map app.
This location has easy access to port-a-potties and is close to the sky lift, attractions area, and the Kayak/Paddle Board rental site. It is also near the covered bridge and grist mill where Mary Pat will lead a walk Friday morning at about 10 AM.
Entry to Park
A daily parking pass is $20 per car. (The parking pass does not include attractions) The parking pass is good for re-entry during the same day.
Park Attractions
Here is a link to the park attractions.
- Group rate (with 15 or more): $20 each.
- Regular prices: $35 for children & $40 for adults
BBQ Lunch at Stone Mountain
12:00 PM: Lunch served to allow plenty of time for the families who want to take advantage of the attractions and enjoy their afternoon.
Dinner
6:00 PM: We will have a build-your-own sandwich station with cold cuts, hummus and crudites, and all the necessary fixin’s. Some people may prefer to take the kids back to their own space for a nap and meal at their home base, and others may prefer to go to a restaurant; those arrangements can be made on an individual basis. Food is also available for purchase in the Attractions area.
Drone Lightshow
Entrance is included with the attractions ticket. Lightshow only tickets are $5.
7:00 – 9:30 PM: People usually start gathering on the lawn with picnic dinners around 7:00 or so. (The later it gets, the more difficult parking gets.)
9:30 -10:30 PM: Drone lightshow!
Other Options
If the lightshow does not interest you, here are some alternative options:
- Enjoy the acoustic stylings of Josh Grau at Cherokee Rose,
- See live music at Tunes by the Tracks in Stone Mountain Village featuring Albert White,
- Visit Outrun Brewing.
Of course, you can also chose to visit in smaller groups at someone’s home base, or any other option you wish.
